Reader's Theater

Students created a recording of The Night Before Christmas using Puppet Pals. They practiced reading fluently and using technology skills (Standard 3.SL.5).

Character Trading Cards

We have been describing characters in a story and explaining how their actions contribute to the sequence of events (Standard 3.RL.3). Each student chose a character from The North Star by Peter Reynolds and created a character trading card using the computer.

Kinds of Sentences

Students have been learning about declarative, imperative, interrogative and exclamatory sentences. They are also able to identify, produce and correctly punctuate simple and compound sentences.

Achieve 3000

Students have been busy practicing comprehension strategies while reading on Achieve 3000. Students answer poll questions, read articles, answer thought questions in written form using email, and track their progress. I encourage you to set up a parent account online to monitor your child's progress with the program. Directions were sent home with your child. The Dot Play Inspired by Peter Reynolds

After reading The Dot by Peter Reynolds, Morgan and Monica wrote the story as a play.  We finished recording the last scene today and will be working on editing after Thanksgiving. We hope it will be ready to share with you soon.
